Through a simple saliva test, the Sleep Profile assesses melatonin and cortisol levels to identify the causes of insomnia and similar sleep issues.
Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland and regulates the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. This hormone is at the heart of the circadian body clock, with levels high at night and low during the day. Evidently, melatonin deficiency can disrupt sleep patterns which can cause a range of consequent health issues.
Cortisol is known as the stress hormone and helps to coordinate the body’s sleep cycles. High levels of cortisol (stress) can hinder the body’s ability to get regular and quality sleep.
