This pathology test determines a cortisol profile through the Adrenocortex Hormone Assessment. This non-invasive saliva test identifies adrenal imbalances by measuring the body’s stress status.
The body’s two adrenal glands are located above the kidneys and play an important role in the body’s endocrine (hormonal) system. When certain lifestyle, physical and psychological stresses put too much pressure on these glands they can become depleted and fatigued, often causing a range of negative health conditions.
Adrenal fatigue is a common condition characterised by tiredness, troubled sleeping, unexplained weight loss and low blood pressure.
The Cortisol Profile can be simply described as a stress test and as it works to uncover any of the biochemical imbalances which lead to conditions like anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, obesity and dysglycemia.
This test requires a saliva test, which is the most accurate and non-invasive method for measuring bioactive levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. This test will note cortisol levels through four saliva samples collected at different times throughout a 12 hour period. This can help highlight the causes of unexplained fatigue.
