The Thyroid Basic / Weight Loss Screening Pathology is designed to test for existing or underlying thyroid issues. If you have had pre existing Thyroid issues, our medical team will require further information before they can approve medical programs from our weight loss category (In particular semaglutide GLP weight loss peptide). A contraindication for Semaglutide is potential interactions with pre-existing MTC (medullary thyroid carcinoma). This test will determine if a patient qualifies for the particular weight loss program containing semaglutide.

Please note, this test is sent directly to your address and can be completed at most pathology collection centres.

The thyroid gland secretes hormones which regulate important metabolic processes like growth and energy expenditure. These hormones are crucial to numerous biochemical processes, and without healthy thyroid function, can be insufficiently distributed and used throughout the body. This sample can detect markers of hypothyroidism (underactive) and hyperthyroidism (overative) of the thyroid gland.

These conditions are reflected in the health and efficiency of the body’s metabolism, and can be detected through the Thyroid Microsample.

HOW IT WORKS

Step 2: Pathology assessment

Once your samples are received by the lab they will be assessed. The turnaround time for results is 7 – 10 business days but please be aware laboratory times may vary and you may experience a delay in results.

Step 3: Medical Team review results

Once your confidential results have been sent to the medical team for review, they will call you to discuss your results and appropriate treatment options moving forward.

Step 4: Results sent to the patient

Finally, a copy of your results will be sent through to you for your reference.
