Lipid Profile | Pathology

$99.00

The Lipid Profile is a basic assessment of the “good” and “bad” cholesterol levels and amounts of triglycerides in the blood. Cholesterol is an important fat the body needs to function properly, however very high levels can lead to serious health conditions such as heart disease, stroke and atherosclerosis.

Description

DESCRIPTION

A high fat intake is the founding characteristic of the Keto diet, and switches the body to a metabolic state of ketosis. With a high fat diet it is therefore important to monitor the body’s balance of saturated (“bad”) and unsaturated (“good”) fats to ensure general health.

This test is often requested as a general health assessment and should be investigated with further lipid testing (such as LDL subfraction testing) if results are abnormal or you have a family history of heart disease. The Lipid Profile pathology test is sufficient as a general health check up.

TEST TYPE: SST Serum Test

TESTING FOR/TEST IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • Family history of high cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Obesity
  • Smoke cigarettes (lung health)
  • Consume alcohol frequently (liver health)
  • Inactive lifestyle
