This profile will assess the prominent hormones that affect the menstrual cycle, highlighting any imbalances or abnormalities. Especially during middle age as women approach menopause, important hormones like estrogen and progesterone are more likely to become imbalanced.
Estrogen and its many hormonal variants regulate menstruation, fertility and sex drive (libido) and can disrupt these important processes when levels become imbalanced. Other female hormones like progesterone can influence body weight, hair growth, muscle retention and bone integrity. These reproductive and fertility hormones are produced both in the ovaries and by glands in the brain.Â
